I keep getting lots of hits on various ports on my site reportedly
from "no-dns-yet.demon.co.uk"
I have checked it out and they come from various Demon web sites.
Come some one explain what they are please.

they are IP addresses not yet allocated a meaningful DNS name, but
given a default one so that reverse DNS lookups don't fail.

Does that mean that they have lost part of their DNS data, and are having
to re-enter it all by hand? That could take ages, and cause RSI for many of
their staff!

many devices have no need of a DNS entry, one practice is to give them
a default entry as above, another to put the IP as the DNS entry,
another to leave them blank and so on.
